14 | April 2016 certain driving conditions such as extremely rough roads. A software concern causes the counted value to be overstated with each ignition off cycle. If a vehicle is driven primarily for short trips at low speeds, and is used infrequently on the highway, the counter may reach the threshold for DTC 03543 because of fre- quent cycling of the ignition. A customized software is available that was started in production month November 2010. Update the ABS/ESP module J104, address word 03, using the SVM action code as listed in the table below. Ford FORD DIESEL DOWN ON POWER Some 2008-2010 Ford F-Super Duty vehi- cles equipped with a 6.4L diesel engine may exhibit a lack of power, MIL on, with DTCs P20E2, P20E3, P20E4, P2080, P2084, P242A, P242B, P0544 or P2031. 1. Monitor all continuous memory DTCs (CMDTCs) using the integrated diagnostic scan tool (IDS) or equivalent. Are any of the afore-noted DTCs present? a. No...this bulletin does not apply. Refer to the powertrain control/emissions manual for further diagnosis. b. Yes...Proceed to Step 2. 2. Replace the faulty exhaust gas tempera- ture (EGT) sensor based on the DTC present using the EGT replacement procedure: a. Disconnect the faulty EGT sensor elec- trical connector. b. Disconnecting an EGT sensor with the key in the on position may force the vehicle into a one hour no-crank lock-out. c. Cut the EGT sensor connector wire leads just above the sensor. d. Apply heat to the EGT sensor mount- ing boss to aid in sensor removal. e. Use a 13 mm, six-point deep-well socket to remove the sensor from the exhaust. f. Apply a small amount of Motorcraft High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize lubri- cant to the threads of the new sensor. g. Install the EGT sensor and torque to 22 ft.-lbs. Prior to replacing the glow plug relay (038 911 253), perform the following test: 1. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor. 2. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the on position. 3. Wait 20 seconds for the glow plug light to turn off. 4. Using the VAG 1551, read the fault code. If DTC 00522 appears, the glow plug relay is OK. If DTC 00522 and DTC 01050 appear together, the glow plug relay is defective and must be replaced. ● Technical Service Bulletins Model Old software New software SVM action code A4 050 060 03A002 A5/A5 Cabriolet 050 060 03A002 Q5 100 110 03S002
